Kind outputs nature
From an output nature perspective, a waqf is a form of charitable endowment in Islamic law where a specific asset or property is dedicated for the benefit of a particular cause or purpose. The primary purpose of a waqf is to generate ongoing benefits or income to support charitable, educational, or religious activities. There are different types of waqf, including waqf istithmar and waqf mubashar:1. Waqf Istithmar: This type of waqf involves dedicating an asset or property with the intention of using its income or proceeds for a specific purpose. The asset itself is not meant to be consumed or sold, but rather the revenue generated from it is utilized for charitable or beneficial activities. For example, a piece of land may be dedicated as a waqf istithmar, and the rent or profit generated from the land is used to fund an educational institution or support the poor.2. Waqf Mubashar: Waqf mubashar, also known as waqf bi’l-mawash, is a form of waqf where the dedicated property or asset is sold, and the proceeds from the sale are used for charitable purposes. In this case, the original asset is converted into cash or other liquid assets, and the generated funds are then used to support various charitable activities or projects. Both waqf istithmar and waqf mubashar serve the same overarching purpose of utilizing dedicated assets for charitable endeavors. However, the key distinction lies in the treatment of the original asset itself, whether it is retained to generate ongoing income (waqf istithmar) or sold to convert into funds (waqf mubashar).
